Joyous Light is a version of the Lutheran evening service (from the Lutheran Book of Worship,  1979) with the addition of the Nunc Dimittis and a sung Lord’s Prayer from the Anglican Vespers (The Book of Common Prayer, 1979). The text is paraphrased for pronoun sensitivity and to better match the colloquial nature of the music. The closing prayer is by British author, poet, and Christian feminist Janet Morley from her book All Desires Known (1988).
